Brown pelicans get new lease on life from Sausalito beach
Seven California brown pelicans were released from a Fort Baker beach Friday morning, spreading their massive wings and taking flight over the bay after weeks of rehabilitation. “Most of them are young birds that were emaciated,” said San Anselmo resident Toni Arkoosh Pinsky, a board member of the Fairfield-based International Bird Rescue Research Center, the group behind the release.
