Go Jeff go!
Awesome that we will have the help of Jeff and Kay to rewrite the FAR. Jeff was instrumental in writing the FAR for the hills of SA and everyone is happy with that ordinance. Let's get the negativity behind us. Congrats to the McNairs! They are super nice folks and I'm happy that they'll be able to afford to keep their charming inn open for our friends and relatives. |

Sadly San Anselmo residents on Tuesday decided to retain Measure E because of the sloganeering by proponents using catch terms like "anti-monster home" ordinance. You know, just about everyone is against Monster Homes! But this ordinance is against samller cottages and 1500 sq. ft homes! The backers of this amendment were able to fool the majority of voters into believing that Measure E, which retains the floor-area ratio ordinance would protect the town. It protects those with large homes and large lots! Not the rest of us who live modestly. This ordinance threw the baby out with the bathwater" because now even small homeowners may be unable to add on without begging the bureacrats at City hall or having to fund an architect's fees to guide a change through Planning Department. I hope the newly elected will revise this ordinance an strike a fair balance in our beautiful town.

How would Measure F have kept the McNairs from affording to keep their inn? All travelers to Marin face an occupancy tax. Would they really not stay here if SA had the same? Doesn;t make sense that they wouldn't and was easy revenue for the city.
Although thinking of all the empty store fronts and useless stores downtown *unless I need to buy an old lamp or get my hair done), I guess we need SOMETHING to lure visitors to our city, |

Wow, wait until the nice SAPD cops are told to start writing more tickets to make up for the $50,000. Make sure your friends who come to visit are aware of the traffic laws in San Anselmo. |

fire some cops there are way too many.

Thank you voters:
Now, Maybe we can work on our Speed Trap. Yes, San Anselmo has become a speed trap and their "ticket happy". Plus, our fees for everything has skyrocketed. Who's in charge of the overnight parking passes? There's a San Anselmo official who has four of these passes, but I'm always denied? These tickets are $22.00 and they add up. If you park on the street more than 20 minutes between 2-6 a.m.--your breaking the crazy law. I guarantee, If someone looks into these "overnight passes"--nepotism, or plain fraud will be exposed. We have this many Revenue Collectors: Police Department Personnel Administration Charles L. Maynard, Chief of Police #87 James C. Providenza, Police Captain #96 Nicholes Valeri, Police Captain #75 Dana Unruh, Police Administrative Services Technician #135 Field Operations Division Patrol: Grady Joseph, Police Sergeant #97 Robert Schneider, Police Sergeant #112 Marcus Hartley, Police Sergeant #86 Ryan Dunnigan, Police Sergeant #103 J. I thought I was the only one who literally had to warn relatives about our ticket happy cops. Yes, I'm old and tired, but I really don't like revenue collection this way--it's just hypocritical. |
||||
You make a great argument. I honestly didn't look at it that way when voting, and I used to be a General Contractor. I also side with Tied and confused on Ticketing--overzealous tickets. |

Hey Out of Control State,
I think we ALL agree that they SAPD is out of control. I don't see why the McNairs should have to pay for this. Let's ask the new council to have a community meeting (real not online) about this issue. It's obviously affecting a lot of us. Heads up that McInerny was the only the only candidate endorsed by the SAPD, which is why I didn't vote for him. Not sure what his allegeance is to them. |

The comments made by Kroot about re-writing the ordinance just underscores the unreasonable nature of his agenda. After attending the committee meetings in the summer of 2008, and listening to him badger and crow about the FAR, it became clear that he wants more design flexibility, to build larger homes. Now we have, what I view, as a completely unreasonable man sitting on the council in a position to make decisions about building policy who happens to be an architect. Great. Seems to me to be a complete conflict of interest. Not for the "people's architect." He just wants an ordinance that is reasonable. Ya, reasonable to him, and with a total rebuke of anyone else who has an alternative point of view. Just ask the neighbors of 10 Foss whether a Kroot design is reasonable?

Kroot should not take on any jobs in town that require design review or planning commission approval.

Amounts to nothing more than government take-over of private property without compensation.
Anticipate a developer and "mouthpiece" bankrupting San Anselmo. At the least, the legal bills will cause a "special" assessment! We'll show 'em!!! Yeah. |

Curious what it means when someone writes from AOL...? Is that who you work for or where you live? Please advise.
|

It's just where their IP provider resides. I used to wonder about that too. If you pay comcast outrageous prices you automatically reside in San Rafael. |
