THE IMPERIAL COUNTY PUBLIC HEALTH DEPARTMENT ANNOUNCES FIRST FLU RELATED DEATH THIS YEAR IN IMPERIAL COUNTY.

A middle-aged man passed away this month from complications due to the flu.

IMPERIAL COUNTY – The Imperial County Public Health Department announced this morning that a middle aged male passed away earlier this month due to complications from the flu. The death is being categorized as a flu-related death- probable H1N1. The individual was admitted to a local emergency department on October 4th due to shortness of breath, fever and other flu-like symptoms. The individual had underlying health conditions. Hospitalizations and deaths from the flu are expected to increase as the flu season progresses. In a typical season more than 30,000 Americans die from flu-related complications.

The California High-Speed Rail Authority approved a memorandum of understanding Thursday with Southern California communities for close cooperation in the development of the state's 200+ mph train.

As the H1N1 flu continues to hit Southern California, more and more people have questions when it comes to symptoms, quarantines and the vaccine.

The unemployment rate here and for the whole of Imperial County hit 30.1 percent in September, the highest rate in the United States .

The Adult Training Services awards total more than $1.6 million. The Imperial County Workforce Development Board recommended the awards.
