The Garden Island newspaper has hired Bill Buley as its editor-in-chief. He will assume the new post on April 8. Buley, a native of Seattle, Wash., has more than 25 years of journalism experience.

A Sandpoint man is in critical condition after he was involved in a vehicle crash early this morning near Sagle, Idaho.

A local newspaper in McCall called Sandpoint's Derick Driggs "the fastest snowbike rider on the planet" after Driggs dominated the field at the Flashpoint Race a couple months ago.

City officials have approved a $25,000 contract to the Sandpoint Fire Department for its continued services in responded to medical emergencies.
