Soup kitchens in need of extra help after change in food assistance
That's because new laws that went into effect this month require able-bodied food assistance recipients to work or volunteer at least 20 hours a week. The people cut off by the new requirement are turning to places like the East Side Soup Kitchen in Saginaw for the community's help.
