Former NYPD officer pleads guilty to selling guns
Prosecutors say a former New York City police officer has pleaded guilty to selling handguns that he stole from a police evidence room.
Prosecutors say Hubertus Vannes pleaded guilty to two counts of criminal sale of a firearm in Nassau County Court on Long Island.
Prosecutors say the Roslyn Heights resident also pleaded guilty to fourth-degree criminal possesion of a controlled substance after he admitted to buying the painkiller Vicodin illegally.
Vannes agreed to a 5-year prison sentence. Prosecutors say Vannes admitted to selling the handguns to a man who sold him the painkillers. Vannes was arrested with 76 tablets of Vicodin. Read more
