Although school funding again dominated the conversation at the Duplin County Commissioners meeting, the tone of Monday night's meeting was much different than it was just two weeks ago.

The Duplin Board of Commissioners voted to approve the fiscal year 2009-10 budget on Monday, reducing the tax rate from $0.79 per $100 valuation to $0.69 per $100. Meeting for the second time in the auditorium of the Duplin Commons Agricultural Complex, a small crowd was in attendance as the fiscal plan was adopted by a unanimous vote.
