From the National Weather Service archives here are the events that happened on September 6. 1881 - Forest fires in Michigan and Ontario resulted in 'Yellow Days" in the northeastern U.S. Twenty villages in Michigan burned , and a total of 500 persons were killed .

Woman running to raise money for Vietnam memorial
An Upper Michigan woman is taking to a treadmill to raise money to help construct a building for part of the Vietnam Veterans Moving Wall Memorial in White Pine.
