Rockaway Beach, named after the one in New York, was incorporated as a beach resort in the early 1900s.

Ah, the pleasures of Rockaway Beach in the spring and early summer. School gets out soon, and that is the biggie in this part of the north Oregon coast.

The Oregon Coast Scenic Railroad on the north coast starts up its regular runs at the end of May, which begins a whole summer of antique train rides between Garibaldi and Rockaway Beach, along with a few larger, special runs.
