Gov Nixon Halts Funding To Rockaway Beach Police Dept.

Full story: ky3.blogspot.com

Friday, June 12, 2009 Nixon Halts Rockaway Beach Police Funding Gov. Jay Nixon has directed Attorney General Chris Koster to cut off state funding for the Rockaway Beach Police Department. Rockaway Beach was one of 12 law enforcement entities listed as "non-compliant" in the annual Missouri Vehicle Stop report issued on June 1st. Gov. Nixon has ordered that funding be stopped for all those who did not comply. Rockaway Beach was the only Ozarks-area department that was non-compliant. "Missouri has been at the forefront of collecting and reporting data about traffic stops, and these reports have served as the basis for constructive communications between law enforcement agencies and the communities they serve," Gov. Nixon said in a statement. "The vast majority of law enforcement agencies in Missouri have complied with the reporting requirements of the law since it took effect. This is a law we take seriously, and the consequences for not complying are clear." Missouri's racial profiling report began in 2000.

I want to know and see any and all evidence you allege to hold! So do the other authorities you mentioned. So contact by email at Teressa.Brewer. Or here's another alternative, send it to the Attorney General - Chris Koster's, office..BUT, make sure someone else than can make things happen, has copies of all of it, just in case no action is taken.

Yep, I'm an outsider, but my wife and I enjoy speding time in the Rockaway Beach / Branson area when vacationing. I was recently surprized to find a good friend of mine interviewed for the Police Chief position.

Tom Viner has the experience to tackle the drug problems I hear you have. He also has the knowledge and ability to create and use a computer database for record keeping.(No more lost funds due racial profile reports not being submitted). And he has experience obtaining grants. Seems like a good choice.

Hopefully, whoever gets the job will be able to survive the back biting I have been reading on this forum.

At any rate, good luck Rockaway Beach. We will see you again as we vacation with you in July.

Oops! That is 'spending time', not speding. And I have no idea where the pronouncement of a Laurie location came from. I'm from the other side of Lake of the Ozarks.
