Regional Submitted by Larry Perosino on 2009-09-28.   State Representative Annie Hornish, who represents the towns of Barkhamsted, East Granby, Granby and New Hartford in the Connecticut General Assembly, announced that funding for three local projects have been approved by the state Bond Commission.

Parks & Recreation Submitted by Don Stein on 2009-09-08.   The village of Riverton, in the town of Barkhamsted, will host the second in a series of Wilderness-Wellness Weekends, starting Friday, September 18, and ending Sunday, September 20.

Volunteer firefighters from five northwest Connecticut companies worked Sunday afternoon to rescue a woman from the Farmington River in the Riverton section of town.

A kayaker stranded on the rocks in the Farmington River was pulled to shore by the rope rescue team of the Pleasant Valley and Riverton fire departments on Tuesday afternoon.

It's not the gospel quartet or the backup band for Melody Parton in North Carolina.
