This School Board is out of control. We have buildings that are in dire need of repair .We have a Capital Reserve Fund that was adopted in 2006 during a re vote that has not been completed. How could we make additions on to buildings that are not maintained properly? If we can't maintain what we have ,how can we maintain larger buildings? 123 million is a lot of money to ask for at this time.
I believe we should redistrict our lines for the little schools. We have lines that go around certain areas to make sure some buildings have a certain kind of family. If lines were redrawn they would find that the little schools would be more diverse equally and that not all the buildings would need a build out.
They also want to close Roanoke Ave school and make it the District Office. How can you say you need classroom space and close a building at the same time? The district says that the building is old and outdated. They say it no longer meets what the SED requires as far as footage for classrooms. The footage the district is saying is for new Buildings. If this school is no good for learning then lets bulldoze every school in all of NYC and any buildings that are older than 20yrs old.The end result ends with the voters too bad the district is putting this vote up while all the Snowbirds are down in Florida.....
