Cops: Miller Place man killed in car accident

actually the accident occured in sound beach not miller place. may that man rest in peace and thoughts are with his family

It's hard to imagine getting killed crossing a street. Seriously, unless you're drunk or mentally incapacitated in some way, how do you *^&@ that up?

Is this the same Shane Daniels who was beaten all those years ago? The one who works at the courthouse in Riverhead?

It's the same Shane Daniels. Club Marakesh in Westhampton 1996. 2 city cops were involved.

When will people learn to pull their heads out of their a55es before crossing the street? I see so many morons step off the curb without looking. Then there's the other idiots who feel the need to walk in the street when there are perfectly good sidewalks to use. I'm waiting to get a new hood ornament.

There are no sidewalks in sound beach in that specific area...

Funny thing is, just like the writer most people in SB try to say they are from Miller Place.

what kind of injuries can this man have that he had to be treated as well at the hospital after just hitting a guy?

My heart goes out to the Berkosko family and the Daniels family this is sad. For those of you who don't recognize the name Shane Daniels. He is the youg man who years ago was nearly beaten to death by a gang that included off duty city cops in Westhampton.

Shane never really received any compensation for his severe injuries. He works 2 jobs to support his family. His wife is currently in remission from cancer and daughter has illness with her bladder.

This polite hard working man just can't catch a break. Knowing him, he is I'll bet torn up over this. Again my thoughts for both families. This is just terrible

When will people learn to pull their heads out of their "a55es" before commenting on Comments boards? The man killed was a great guy, father of two amazing children each of whom had presented him within just the past few months with a beautiful new grandchild. He'll be much missed. Likely that's a sentiment you'll never know.

i live in sound beach as well and there are no SIDEWALKS in that area. that is SOUND BEACH..... not miller place... im proud to live in sound beach, its a nice place and the people in it are one of a kind.

I agree he is one of the most hard working men I know...I am truly praying for him and the man's family ...It was truly an accident ...I don't think he could kill a fly!!!!

Shane is the nicest person you would ever want to meet & extremely polite. He comes from two hard working parents. He never deserved what happen to him back in the day, no one does. This is a horrible accident, for both families.

May God Bless the man who passed away and his family & May God Bless Shane and his family. Shane is a terrific man, family man, loving son & brother, husband & father. I am also sure that goes for the gentleman who was hit. Shane was beaten by a coward & almost died and received next to nothing for what he had to go through for weeks, months, years & now works two jobs, two jobs that he takes care of people in the public to make there life easier. Any idiot out there who puts down the older man who was killed by this horrible accident or puts down Mr. Daniels, may you rot in hell. That's what is wrong with the world today. Everyone is negative, everyone is out to hurt everyone. Think before you speak or email, it could be you or your family member this happens too.

There maybe 100 feet of side walk in front of a Funeral parlor and a gas station. After that there are no sidewalks for miles. Also Mailboxes are all on one side of street only in the area. The poor guy was probably trying to get his mail after work. N. Country rd there,which is 30mph zone, forks off of RT 25a, which is a NASCAR track. What happened is easy to envision.
