A Rio Grande resident, identified as Arthur "Art" Shivers, 72, was killed on Tuesday, June 9 when the lawn mower he was riding on flipped over pinning him underneath at the Sand Barrens Golf Club on Route 9, around 7 a.m. According to police, Shivers was an employee of Sand Barrens.

On May 20th, 2009 at 4:24 PM, the Middle Township Police responded to a report of a man running naked down the street in the area of Route 47 and Railroad Avenue in the Rio Grande section of the Township.

On 05-14-09 at approximately 1:30 pm, Lower Township Police Officers responded to the area of Clubhouse and Fernwood Roads in the Townbank Section of Lower Township for the report of a bicyclist struck by a motor vehicle.

On Sunday, May 17, 2009 the Middle Township Police Department responded to a vehicle fire on East Sulloway Street in Whitesboro.
