The one time a helicopter ride to a trauma center seems justified (they fly everyone out it seems for just about anything) this poor kid had the misfortune to not only touch a live power line but do so on a foggy day.

I hope you have a speedy and full recovery young man.

It is indeed a miracle He is still alive, Glory to God! Jacob is a sweet young man and he was only trying to be a good citizen when the accident occured. He was not "playing with wires"!! He is a very smart young man who cares about his community greatly. God is faithful to hear our prayers and know exactly what Jacob and his family need right now. Healing will come and lives will be forever changed.

The blog they created is all about miracles and the lord and a bunch of mumbo jumbo. How about teaching your kid to stay the hell away from a power line. Not a miracle. Just common sense. Jeezus!
The article said the kids thought it was fire works and at night. He tried to put out a grass fire. I am sure he didn't even see the power line. How about teaching yourself a little bit of compassion.

Snarky commenters on SCS will always find something or someone to criticize. Whatever this family needs to get through this tragedy should be supported, This boy was being a very good citizen, doing his best. It was an accident, in the dark, that could happen to anyone.

Its too bad that some of you feel the need to use this to make fun of their family and friends strong belief in God. He is a smart kid and would not just go touch a powerline for fun.. I wish him a speedy recovery and hope his family have the stength to get through this.

This family needs our help. Here is a young boy in his prime, who was acting out of concern and put out a fire to protect others. How can we help his family now? PG&E?

Yeah, power flickered a few times here (just off Ocean) but was never completely out.

When we had the brown out in lower broadway, I stepped outside and saw two huge blue flashes, it sucks to think somebody was getting hurt when that happened.

I was with him when this happened, and he wasn't playing around. He was worried it would start a bigger fire and wanted to put it out. He has a great heart and always does the right thing. Don't use this as a chance to make fun of him for his religion, which is one of the things that is helping his family and friends go through this terrible ordeal. We are all praying for his recovery and hope that he will be well again soon. His Christianity is a blessing and what happened that night was a miracle. I am saying this and I don't go to Church but this God is here with him. You had to be there to fully witness the magnitude of the situation and experience how much of a miracle it truly was.

Perhaps you could help me with a couple things I'm confused about....since you seem to have God on speed dial and I'm just an ignorant heathen who's destined to burn in hell.
I constantly hear about "God's plan" for every inexplicable occurrence, tragic misfortune or glorious achievement.
If it's all in God's plan, why call for help? Why would he need a hospital? And most confusing, if God has a supreme plan, what good is praying...wouldn't that be a tad bit arrogant to attempt to persuade or manipulate the Lord's plan?
It seem sto me like you need to catch up on your reading. Can I send you a bible? Praying for you right now.

A miracle from God would have been a voice from the sky saying "stay away it's dangerous", or how about an ambulance driver right there have lunch?
Praying for a miracle for you as well.

"But according to a preliminary report, a branch about 70 feet up a eucalyptus fell onto a high-voltage power line -- about 21 kilovolts -- knocking conductors and other equipment on to the grassy hillside near Rio del Mar beach, Zewer said. That apparently sparked a small fire."

Eucalyptus plus power lines equals a fire waiting to happen. How did PG&E miss this tree trimming? They are pretty aggressive with their trimming back, and removal, of trees in Bonny Doon.

Yea it was out at my house too. About 3 hrs between 10:20pm and 1:30am. This was a seperate incident from the Rio Del Mar one. Once again it was a tree at fault though. Lines were down near Market and Emiline in SC.

-thank you. This is the second time we have lost power due to falling tree limbs. PGE must be cutting back on prevention.

Daily Horoscope for December 7

Leo

If there have been slight tensions or frictions between you and a loved one recently, this is the perfect day to get them out into the open, thrash them out and then forget about them. Things could get quite heated in the process but don't worry because they'll work out all right in the end. Put as much energy into kissing and making up as you did in arguing!
