Richmond Chief Administrative Officer Byron Marshall resigns from City Hall

Richmond Chief Administrative Officer Byron Marshall is no longer employed by the city of Richmond, multiple sources confirmed to CBS 6 reporters Sandra Jones and Joe St. George. Richmond City Council members were informed of Marshall's resignation late Sunday evening.

Md. Man Sentenced to 10 Years for Underage Va. Prostitution Case

A Clinton, Maryland man was sentenced to 10 years in federal prison Thursday for transporting a 16-year-old runaway girl into Virginia for prostitution. Mustafa Muhammad, 36, of Clinton, Maryland , was sentenced Thursday in U.S. District Court in Richmond after a jury found him guilty of the charge in June, The Associated Press reports.

A home has been thoroughly damaged by smoke after a house fire in the 2600 block of Redwood Avenue Thursday afternoon. Fire crews were called to the Richmond home around 4:15 p.m. on September 11. The fire was extinguished by 5:00 p.m. Initially, the fire broke out in the kitchen and then spread to the dining room.

Lawmakers to high court: Protect pregnant workers

More than 120 members of Congress urged the Supreme Court on Thursday to recognize that pregnant workers are entitled to reasonable accommodations such as light duty, saying it's needed to ensure that expecting mothers are not forced out of their jobs. In a friend-of-the-court brief, the Democratic lawmakers - 99 from the House, including Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi, and 24 senators - said UPS delivery driver Peggy Young of Lorton, Virginia, was unfairly treated by her employer when it asked her to take unpaid maternity leave rather than provide a less strenuous position as her doctors advised.
