Minn. EMS uses $4 million grant for automated CPR devices

A $4 million charitable grant will be used to save lives in rural Minnesota, according to the Minnesota Department of Health. The money from the Leona M. and Harry B. Helmsley Charitable Trust will be used to install a device that provides automated CPR in ambulances and hospitals across the state, the health department said in a news release.

Washington state company recalls sausages because they contain milk

Interbay Food Co LLC is recalling about 4,820 pounds of pork sausage because they contained milk, an allergen that was not on the products' label, the U.S. Department of Agriculture said on Friday. The Woodinville, Washington, company is recalling one-pound refrigerated packages and five-pound logs of British Pantry Ltd, British Style Bangers, the department's Food Safety and Inspection Service said in a statement.

No injuries reported in Redmond house fire

At 5:43 a.m. Wednesday, the Redmond Fire Department responded to a house fire in the 9700 block of 164th Avenue Northeast in Redmond. Peacock said an 85-year-old man lives in the home by himself and he was able to get out of the house uninjured and call 911 after he heard his smoke alarm.

Puget Sound Energy will host another round of open houses for its Energize Eastside project next week, including one in Bellevue on Thursday, Sept. 11. PSE is about two-thirds of the way through its community outreach goals for the project, and citizen advisory committees have reduced the number of routes being considered to run 230kV lines between Redmond and Renton down from 18 to 11. The lines could also run through neighborhoods in Kirkland.

Old school house community center to hold Latino film festival pre-screening Sept. 21

The public is invited to a free 2014 Seattle Latino Film Festival's pre-festival screening of two titles, "Pedro Pan" and "Caramelos Para Todos" , at the Old Redmond School House Community Center at 16600 N.E. 80th St. The films - which will be screened beginning at 3 p.m. on Sept. 21 - provide a sneak peak to the longer SLFF, which begins Oct. 3 in theaters and TV screens around the Seattle Area, including Redmond.
