MATEWAN a ' Minor flooding washed through parts of Mingo County again yesterday after heavy rains poured down over the coalfield region.

The West Virginia National Guard is moving out of the southern coalfields following a month-long deployment.

For many residents of Mingo County, the last turn before reaching home is across a small, private bridge taking them from the highway to their property across a creek.

Carl Mills of Red Jacket isn't sure what he's going to do now. The flash flooding that ravaged much of southern Mingo County trapped him in his house when it destroyed the bridge that crosses the creek in front of his home and he lost both of his vehicles when the road gave way underneath where they were parked.
