Health Startup Launches an App to Guide Breast Cancer Patients
Health startup Willowglade Technologies plans to launch its "My Breast Cancer Journey" app for iOS and Android devices by the end of the month, the first in a series of planned apps designed to provide information and support for cancer patients, the company told Re/code . The tool aims to help those battling breast cancer keep track of their medical tests, submit information to clinical trials, access medical literature customized to their conditions and securely share progress with friends and family.

A federal court has permanently barred a Rancho Santa Margarita, California, man from promoting and selling an alleged nationwide tax scheme that involved using welfare benefit plans to unlawfully increase and accelerate tax deductions and avoid income taxes, the Justice Department announced today. Kenneth Elliott consented to a permanent injunction order entered by District Judge Josephine L. Staton of the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California.

Winston Vickers, a wildlife biologist and mountain lion expert at UC Davis, took blood samples off the road near Trabuco Creek Bridge for DNA analysis that he'll use to help determine if it was actually a mountain lion that died.
