They need to start really coming down on these animals who run from the police and injure other people. Even a mob stoning him to death would be appropriate

Does anyone know the hospital that the young woman was taken to? I was there at the scene and did what I could to help her, and I'm concerned as to her condition now.

Well given the short information provided and the location, i'd assume San Antonio in Upland. Unless she needed a trauma center then it'd be Arrowhead Regional (level II trauma) or Loma Linda (Level I) but then i'm sure they'd mention her air lifted.

So you were there? Well from me to you, thank you for helping her. I don't know her or you but I find all to often that people tend to "mind their own business" or "not want to get involved" and I always seem to be the one that rocks the boat. Glad i'm not alone.:)

My prayers go out to this young 19 yr old female and her family.

"Pursuit in Rancho Cucamonga seriously injures bystander" - What about the bystander??? I read the article and it talked about the idiot car thief and barely mentioned the poor girl who was hit. But she was in a car and not a "bystander". Was there someone else?

Hi Mary, I appreciate your concerns about "not getting involved", but I think that is only because the news chooses to focus on these stories. I have happened on the scene in quite a few incidents (a robbery, a girl being assaulted, a man having a seizure, a rollover crash.. to name a few) and in each case there were many people who jumped in and helped. In the robbery situation I heard the girl (victim) scream and I was close by and I thought I would be the first one to get to her. There was already 7 other people there and others already chasing the robber. In the crash enough people stopped that we were able to pick up the minivan as a group to pull out a young boy who was trapped underneath. Never heard this one on the news. I say the "not involved" group is very small and the "how can I help" group is most of us!

I was at the scene shortly after it happened and thought there was probably a death. Glad to hear the innocents will be ok.

So the RC deputy thought it was worth almost killing an innocent driver to catch someone who had committed an infraction. Great judgement there; that should be a pretty hefty settlement check for her and her family. He obviously had a license plate and description; trying to find the guy later was not an option?
Sounds like the guy was guilty of contempt of cop, but we expect our law enforcement officers to have the maturity and judgement to make better decisions than this.

Say the A..H... just commited a rape or murder....then would it be okay to chase him. I say once someones evades the police, they should be able to use immediate "deadly force." Evading police in a car is just as bad as shooting a gun randomly down a street. The only difference is that they are driving a 4000 pound bullet instead of it coming out of a gun. As a "good citizen," we have to come together as a society and put an end to these bull s... crimes. So.....I say just "light them up" or "kill em." There's no use for people who evade the police. Plus they are truly the ones that put the public in jeopardy!!! "HDSG04" you just don't get it!!!!! In a pursuit....the cops should and always pursue...and if anyone is in danger....deadly force, deadly force!!!

Me again,

For all the people getting on the cops about chasing this guy - they were just doing their job. Ask any cop what they hate the most and a lot of the time they'll say high speed pursuits, precisely because of this. I mean, they had to pepper spray and taser the guy, and this was with three cops outside his car, guns drawn. Later I'd heard some of the LEOs talking, and it sounded like this guy had a lengthy rap sheet from what I gathered.

Wondering: the girl in the car was the only one who was injured, aside from the moron who hit her. She was lucky, though - had anyone been in her passenger side, they'd be dead right now. It was entirely crumpled in.

Mary: thanks for the info. I'll look into it. I figured on Arrowhead in Upland, but considering this was on Arrow, and the Ambulance went south on Vineyard initially (instead of taking Arrow west), that's why I asked. I guess I'll have to check Arrowhead Regional as she seemed pretty seriously banged up.

HDSG04: since when did Grand Theft Auto and resisting arrest, for starters, become "infractions"? This innocent driver aside, they were lucky to have got him how they did. For all we know, he might be someone wanted for murder. Would you rather he escape and then go on and kill/injure someone else?

Can you read? This idiot almost hit the Deputy as he was leaving the scene. The scene where he stole a car, yes the car that was being chased. This guy was going to drive away like this even if the Deputy wasnt there. And yes the Deputy had a description and license plate, of the stolen car! What good would that do to identify the suspect? So to answer your question, NO they could not find him later. You show your maturity and judgment in your comment. Your an IDIOT!! Its people like you that are the problem!! Its no fault of the Deputy this guy ran! Place blame where it belongs. With the dumba$$ that stole the car and decided to flee.

I think we should give the guy who wrote this the same respect that he gave to the effort of thinking out what he wrote here. Hopefully this guy is restricted from voting by be illegal or a convicted felon.
