Reward increased to $20,000 for tips in death of Alabama woman
<![CDATA[TUSCALOOSA, Ala. (AP) -- The reward for information in the death of a Tuscaloosa woman has been increased to $20,000. Authorities say a neighbor found 73-year-old Kate Ragsdale dead inside her home in Tuscaloosa's Highlands neighborhood Feb. 24 after noticing several newspapers in her yard. Police have said Ragsdale had been dead for days before her body was discovered, judging from the amount of medication left in prescription bottles. Authorities say Ragsdale died of sharp force trauma. The Tuscaloosa Homicide Unit announced Ragland's neighborhood association raised $15,000 increase in money for information on the case Wednesday. Prior to that, Gov. Robert Bentley offered a $5,000 reward for information in the case. Ragsdale worked for the University of Alabama for more than 25 years. Tipsters are asked to call Tuscaloosa Crime Stoppers at 205-752-7867.
