“Our whole approach is to connect with people who feel disconnected from God and from the church.”
Church Web site for God doubters
What are your doubts about God? That's what Next Level Church is asking.
The church has set up a Web site, www.idoubtgod.com, encouraging spiritual skeptics to go public with their doubts about God -- and even vote on God's existence.
'We wanted a forum for people to express their doubts, questions and even pain in a way where they won't feel judged or patronized with easy, textbook answers,' said Next Level Church lead pastor Todd Hahn.
Comments posted on the site will be read verbatim during Sunday's services, which will focus on doubting God. The church hopes this will foster honest spiritual discussion. Read more

Home Searched: Charlotte couple accused of fraud
“He conveyed to them that his business philosophy was `blessing the church by using his knowledge as an attorney to draw up the contracts in such fashion that they protect the church”
Court documents show that state investigators last week searched a $1.13 million south Charlotte house looking for information on what they say appears to be an investment-fraud scheme that bilked $200,000 from a Monroe church.
Investigators from the N.C. Secretary of State's office on Friday seized documents, receipts, computers, a BlackBerry and bank statements from Terrilyn and Tyrone 'Cauzae' McCall's 8,500-square-foot house on Providence Glen Road in Providence Plantation, according to court documents. Read more

“These are not small homes by any stretch”
Michelle Redmon's home sits on almost half an acre on Avanti Drive in western Union County. The 3,300-square-foot, 6-year-old house is worth about $400,000, she estimates.
It's more than enough for herself, her husband, Philip, and 8-year-old son Mitchel, she says.
Although it's surrounded by three similar homes annexed by the Village of Marvin, she wonders whether her house isn't good enough for the village. Marvin's council last month rejected a request to annex much of Providence Glen, Redmon's neighborhood of $400,000 homes on less than an acre. Read more

Many Reported in South Charlotte: Cell phone users dial up dead zones
“I thought about changing carriers, but from what I've heard, you're just trading one set of problems for another.”
When Angela Pennington moved into her new home off Christenbury Road in northern Charlotte, she was surprised to find neighbors standing on their porches, talking on their cell phones.
'I thought it was strange,' she said. 'But it didn't take me long to figure it out. That's the only place where they can get a signal.'
