Taxi violence ratcheted up near Muizenberg on Tuesday morning, as Vrygrond residents and taxi drivers stoned police and traffic vehicles and set up burning tyre barricades in and around the informal settlement near Marina da Gama. They closed off a section of road on the corner of Military Road and Prince George Drive.

Woman gets four years for break-ins
The co-defendant in a string of robberies in Prince George and Hopewell will spend four years in prison. Brittney Wells, 24, of Dinwiddie was sentenced to five years, with four suspended on the charge of conspiracy to commit larceny, and five years with four suspended on the charge of selling stolen property in Hopewell court on July 23. She will serve her two-year sentence concurrently with her time in Prince George.
