PD: Arizona woman scammed of nearly $10,000

An 80-year-old Arizona woman was scammed out of nearly $10,000 this week after a caller pretended to be an attorney, according to the Prescott Valley Police Department. Police said the anonymous caller claimed to be the victim's grandson and said he was arrested and jailed in California.

International Motor Contest Association Modifieds, Northern Arizona Dwarf Car Association Dwarf Cars, Copper State Mod Lites, Stock Car Racing Association Factory Stocks and mini stocks will fire up their engines and roar around Prescott Valley Speedway at 7 p.m. Saturday. The pit gate at the dirt-track complex next to the former Yavapai Downs , 10501 Highway 89A, will open at 4 p.m., followed by the main gate at 5. In addition, indoor racing with quarter midgets and go-karts at the adjacent Event Center is scheduled for 10 a.m. this Saturday and Sunday.

Stair climb a tribute to World Trade Center victims

Firefighters hike the stairs of Tim's Toyota Center as part of the Prescott 9-11 Memorial Stair Climb to raise money and awareness for the National Fallen Firefighters Foundation. The firefighters had to walk three complete circles up and down each aisle at the center to simulate the 110 story climb of the World Trade Center Towers.
