WPD Announces July 4th Crackdown on Illegal Fireworks

Woodbridge Mayor John E. McCormac today announced that the Woodbridge Township Police Department responded to 43 complaints of illegal fireworks on July 4th, issued three summonses to residents identified as possessing illegal fireworks, and confiscated more than 1,000 pounds of illegal fireworks from various locations throughout the Township.

In a four-month period beginning in October of 1918, the New Jersey Department of Health attributed 18,306 deaths to what was known as the 'Spanish Flu.' Ten children of Daniel and Mary Hayduk of the Port Reading section of Woodbridge died in a one-month period that fall.
