Richard Wayne Guidry, now serving a life prison term for shooting his estranged wife, Holly Guidry, their twins, Tristan and Nikita Guidry and a family friend Scot Blasey almost killing them all on August 9, 2005 in the minivan shooting in Pocahontas, Iowa. Guidry recently returned to Pocahontas County's Courthouse on Wednesday, July 15, 2009 and was housed in the jail there for his Post-Conviction Trial in a last ditch attempt to get a new trial. Guidry further claimed that his attorney Edward Bjournstad of Spirit Lake gave ineffective assistance to him during his trial in 2006 in Pocahontas. Also Present were Charles Thoman, Assistant Iowa Attorney General, Prosecutor at the trial and Ann Beneke, the Pocahontas County Attorney as well as Guidry's new state appointed lawyer. The judge will make his decision in 30 days. For now, Guidry will be transported back to Anamosa State Penitentary in Anamosa, to await the judge's decision.
