Hey, what did Collins do before he retired?

Oh yeah, he was a State Trooper for 32 years.

Can you say cronyism?

At least they get a cop with real experience. Maybe he'll make the p-ville cops actually do some work besides eat atthe public trough. They need to get out of their Mayberry type policing and deal with this gang problem they've been hiding, or don't know how to deal with.

Why don't you just take your ideas on how to deal with the problem right on down to the police department and lay it all out for them?

PSHS? Of course there's a gang problem at Plainfield South. That school shouldn't even be a Plfd school. It's all Joliet trash that wanted a P'ville address.

P-ville has had a gang problem sine the late 80's everyone there just turned a blind eye to it. One of there first real homicides happened out there at a gang party. One wannabe shot and killed a guy out there in the early 90's. P-ville did their best tio hide it, blaming it on Joliet scum. Typical stuck up idiots who refuse to look in their own back yards.

So, are you saying you would rather live in Joliet with the filthy gang scum??

Plainfield need not be that bad.

The point is Plainfield is that bad and the people in charge have been sticking their heads in the sand for almost two decades. The police are lousy. They are geared toward traffic and "ordinance violations". The purpose? Make the village look good and keep Crime reporting down, because those violations don't get reported to the FBI for Crime Reporting. A battery between gang members is reported as an "ordinance violation". Sure the $$$$$$$$$ goes to the Village, but then the crime statistics are skewed because they are never really reported. Ask a P-ville cop, "on misdemeanor crimes do you arrest or write an ordinance ticket". They're not the same.
Those cops have little, if any effect. They don't know how to handle a real crime. It's not their fault though. The village people tell them what to do.

The Plainfield Police Department does very well at policing the Village of Plainfield. Let’s not forget, these are the professionals of law enforcement. They know much more about the “problems” within the village then we do. If you feel there is a “gang” problem in your neighborhood, then (as Alan stated) go to them, with your concerns and suggestions. I agree with the comments made about the Plainfield Township area. (Residents of the City of Joliet with a Plainfield address, with four digits) Most of the “gang” issues are within Joliet City and not the Village of Plainfield. Such as the fine students at Plainfield South High School.

Before you can fix a gang problem you have to admit you have one.

The time has come for you my friends, to all this uglyness we must put an end.

You can turn your back just the same as most americans have with the international issues. But at the end of the day it will be waiting on your door step.

Organize or join and participate in a neiborhood watch group. That is if you really want to do somthing about it.

Experience....well, hiring a dude after he worked 32 years and ALREADY collecting a pension...not cool.
Once the big cheese Don "I know more about police work than anyone" Bennett is out of here..they could have promoted another cop from within.
Hey, folks need work and why hire someone who is already collecting a nice pension (he was a Major or something like that)?
I am sure they will give him a nice salary that probably would have allowed 3 of the laid off Village workers their jobs back.
And he will get another retirement on top of his other package.
Well, at least he has a cushy place to work out of: The Don Bennett Memorial Plainfield Law Enforcement Taj Mahal!
I am sure the Plainfield Village board will approve him.
Cronyism is alive and well in Plainfield!
Gotta love the way government works for us!

Are you a member of a well regulated militia? Just wondering if you've actually read the US Constitution...

Yes, I have read the US Constitution many of times.
In fact, I have a copy of it hanging up in my den.

It's funny how you forgot to mention, what the rest of the Second Amendment states.

"The right of the people to keep and bear Arms shall not be
infringed."
