I thought all the employees had to reapply for their jobs complete with a background check. You would think that they'd catch where she stole money from the little kids' baseball team when she was treasurer years ago. Or did someone bail her out of that?

You know this is really sad. She must have a sickness and I for one feel sorry for her. I think all these so called :funny: comments are cruel. This is going to turn into another Kara forum. Her Mom is one of the nicest people I know and she does have small children. GO ahead and be cruel and hope that you nor your children or family ever makes a mistake. This forum has hurt so many people and it is sad to me that such satisfaction is gained by someones terrible lifechanging decisions.

Sickness? And you feel "sorry" for her? Face it...she's a thief that got caught, and should pay for her crime. I don't even know her,(And don't want too!) but if you dance to the music, sooner or later you have to pay the fiddler. I'm tired of hearing people "feel sorry" for crimminals, just another morbid excuse to let them get away with it.

So what was wrong with Cecil West when he was in office, everyone got along and worked very well together. More drugs were taken off the street during his time in office than any other since. I for one think D.P. is doing a great job. Every agency has at least one bad apple but it looks like D.P. is weeding his bad apples out.

I for one think that it is funny that when someone gets in trouble for their own actions, they try in every way possible to put the blame on someone else.Every time someone has got caught doing something wrong at the sheriff dept they point the finger at someone else. These people need to just take responsibility for their own actions and move on with their lives, stop trying to bring everyone else down with them.

A Rusk County Sheriff's Office employee on Thursday was arrested and charged with theft of property by a public servant.

Kristy Lyn Campbell, 43, of Henderson is accused of cashing $1,000 worth of money orders that were posted as bond by defendants in criminal cases, authorities said.

According to a prepared statement from RCSO, a defendant in a criminal case that had been resolved requested the return of his bond in March.

Campbell, who served as an RCSO warrants clerk, was unable to locate the money order that had been used to post bond for the defendant or any records indicating that the money was deposited into any RCSO accounts.

The defendant was able to provide RCSO investigators with a photocopy of the missing money order.

Rusk County Sheriff Danny Pirtle ordered an internal investigation to be carried out by the RCSO criminal investigation division.

During that investigation, officials discovered that the money order had been cashed by former warrants clerk Campbell. Campbell allegedly cashed a $500 money order using an alias.

The investigation was completed this month and investigators interviewed Campbell. During questioning Campbell admitted that she cashed the $500 money order in question. She also told investigators that she had cashed a second money order valued at $500.

The case was turned over to the Rusk County District Attorney's Office and a warrant was issued for Campbell's arrest.

Campbell was arrested on July 21 and taken to the Rusk County Jail. She was arraigned by Pct. 5 Justice of the Peace Bob Richardson who set bond at $5,000.

Campbell was working as a dispatcher for the RCSO at the time of her arrest.

Former Rusk County Dispatcher Arrested
HENDERSON -- An internal investigation by the Rusk County Sheriff's Office into a missing money order culminated in the arrest of a former dispatcher who confessed to cashing the money order, Sgt. Amber Rogers, public information officer, said Wednesday.

Kristy Lyn Campbell, 43, of Henderson, was charged with theft of property by a public servant, a state jail felony. She was arrested on July 21 by Criminal Investigations Lieutenant Charles Helton, arraigned by Justice of the Peace Bob Richardson, and released on bond later in the day.

According to information released Wednesday by Sgt. Rogers, in about March a defendant whose case had been resolved requested the return of his bond, which he was entitled to.

The Rusk County Sheriff's Office warrants clerk discovered that the money order in which the bond had been paid with could not be found, and there was no record through the Rusk County Treasurers Office that the money had ever been deposited into any Rusk County accounts.

The defendant requesting a refund provided the sheriff's office a photo copy of the missing money order. Sheriff Danny R. Pirtle immediately ordered an internal investigation, carried out by the Rusk County Criminal Investigation Division, into the whereabouts of the missing money order. Investigators traced the money order and found that it had been cashed.

During the course of the investigation, it was found, after all subpoenaed documents and information were received, that former warrants clerk Kristy Lyn Campbell had cashed the money order in question under another name for her own personal gain, Sgt. Rogers said.

On July 8, after the full criminal investigation had been completed, Ms. Campbell confessed to investigators that not only had she cashed the money order, worth $500, but she had also cashed an additional money order also valued at $500.

Ms. Campbell, 43 of Henderson, held the position of dispatcher at the time of her confession and was immediately terminated from her employment with the Rusk County Sheriff's Office in accordance with Rusk County Sheriff's Office Policy and Procedure.

The criminal case was submitted to the Rusk County District Attorne's Office and a warrant was issued for the arrest of Ms. Campbell for the charge of theft of property by a public servant.

Well sounds like it is over with to me, why keep running it into the ground, unless this a person who lives to see their name in print, and will stoop to any level to get it out there. Grow up, the only you get from hurting others, is having it dropped on your lap ten fold.
