Throw away a plated meal?? What kind of a lesson does that teach anyone? I can see the substitution for that, but not after it has been served to a student and then taken away--and of course the parents need to pay, but this seems really extreme.

Throw away plated and served food seems terrible --what kind of a message is that? I can understand the substitutions but the peanut butter, etc. has cost too--and of course the meals have to be paid for if they have been contracted with the parents, but there must be a better way--$6,000 per year would probably pay for one athletic trip out of town!!
