With a name like Sugartown, the watermelons had better be sweet. And they are, as the melons grown in the Sugartown area of Beauregard Parish and the surrounding area in Allen and Vernon parishes are the Crimson Sweet variety which have about twice as much sugar as a typical watermelon.
