A missing Pine Knot woman was recently located in Pulaski County. Charity D. Genoe, 30, was reported missing by her mother March 16 after she failed to contact her family upon her release from McCreary County Jail on Jan.

Jail van purchase raises questions
The communication gap between McCreary County Jailer Tony Ball and members of Fiscal Court continued to widen this month as Ball asked the county to insure a van he purchased with commissary funds.
The jail sells snacks and personal care items to inmates through the commissary, which does not involve taxpayer monies. The revenues generated — up to $10,000 — may be spent only for the inmates’ benefit. Revenues over $10,000 should be turned over to the county’s general fund.
An incredulous Judge Phillips told the jailer that the county cannot insure the vehicle because it is not a county-owned vehicle purchased in accordance with the procurement code.

Judge disputes repeat offenses found in audit
Last Tuesday Kentucky Auditor Crit Luallen released the 2008 audit of McCreary County Fiscal Court citing 16 deficiencies, many of which county officials have seen before.
