Latraca Moore statement to Piggott School Board

Thank you for standing up for what is right and in the student's best interest. Now it is their turn to take action. Who knows of any schools where people (employees) could get by with not taking such recent events serious?

They just say that to pacify you and get you out of their faces. This issue was about the staff not taking things seriously.....wanna know why? I bet a disgruntled Football player wrote that on the wall so in their eyes it didnt need to be taken seriously....now if a band student had written it....OMG!! The whole town would have been shut down within minutes and that student probably arrested! We put up with such a double standard in PHS!!
Teachers, COACHES and ATHLETES can actually put their hands on a student, INJURE them and still keep their jobs or not be suspended so really......Piggott School district repremand anyone, please. If dreams come true maybe.

If you are like me you cant do much about any of it b/c I do not have the money to pay tuition for another school.....so my children, unfortunatly, HAVE to put up with the abuse, bullying, cursing, hitting, etc whatever they dish out.
Please dont say show up at the school board meeting and voice your opinions either, been there, done that and .....like I said, they dont care and only listen to you while in front of them. Once you leave they probably laugh behind your backs and call you names.....just like the children in high school do.....wonder where they learn that behavior and who condones it!!
The only way you are ever gonna get anything done in Piggott is to have one of the football players parents "ask and thy will be done"! you remember, football is religion around here!
Just dont get your hopes up that there will be any changes at PHS....i am afraid you will be sadly disappointed as I have been.

This is right its always been this way. But what can you do about it. Something needs to be done about this.Its not just the school its also th town government they dont care about the people they are just in it for themselves. This is my statement and i dont give a damn who dont like it. Ibet 90% of the people agree with me.

I totally agree with you! Piggott school is all about football-always has been-always will be--it is amazing what they can get away with. My kid endured 13 LONG years of Piggott schools-I regret that she had to go here--just as I wish I had not went to this school, but had no choice. It is all about WHO you are and what your last name is----ALWAYS! Piggott will never change!

well, 1st of all, you did have a choice to let your kids go here. If you didnt like this town , then you must have let your smart-ass mouth make you know friends, thats why you dont want your kids here, cause everyone hates you? thats to "AGREE". Next, to "thats right", NO, only about 65% willagree with you, NEXT , to "whatever", Football has absolutely NOTHING to do with this subject. You must be BAND mom. OH, band members do no wrong, huh? They dont run off and hide and make out during games do they, or even at the band room, huh, oh not yours....? If I was you, I would be mad at the band for making my kid go to batesville or forrest city on school nights, or make plans to go and ruin everyones SATURDAY, but thats not the subject either. Why do YOU assume that it was a ball player that did it, do YOU know that? Do you work there? I would bet that any football players parent would want the right thing done also. So dont blame sports for this, cuase yours doesnt play. But bet your at every game cause little john or jane plays a tuba or a flute or beats a drum? Wheter its band or football, either way, thier still students, and they all should be taken care of with great concern, every day. SO, if it takes one or two people up there to take the fall for this "OVERSIGHT", then let it be, cause thats only rihgt for the saftey of our kids. Guess we'll see?

All I have ever wanted is for my child to be treated fairly and b/c he is not on a team does not mean he should receive anything less than that!!!!!!! regardless of whether or not he wears a school uniform. By the way.....my child is not in band either.
This subject does have something to do with football b/c the school is run by ex-coaches.....so yeah it has everything to do with it. Open your eyes people!

We all want our children to be safe and taken care of, not just you. Thats all any parent wants!!!! Just who do you think will take the fall for this???? Not the beloved super or principal....it will probably be the janitor that wrote the message down. That would make sense to the people that matter....you know the wealthy and well known.

HERE IT IS !!!!!!!!!! NEGATIVE talk !!!!!!!! Instead of talking like this OUR community Needs to start taking Some ACTION !!!!!!! People this is WHY things are the way they are. C'mon QUIT talking and start doing. I have been but,without back-up how can things change. I'm not just talking about the school but,ALL of Piggott and Clay County. Enough already with unlaw abiding citizens getting their way and the good decent ones paying the price. I HATE Politics and this is the Reasons why. Hell even the Govenor didn't know where Clay County was till I told his secretary and that was before we had an ice storm here. Things DON'T Change by themselves it take Community EFFORT!!!!!!!!

This is sad little town that can't manage their own schools. Too busy talking about each other or sleeping around with each other. Well live with it since your officers wont change it or change your officers incharge.

Get your facts straight. Piggott SCHOOLS haven't gone to pot just the high school so leave the elementary out of it. Elem. school is one of the top schools in the state. That's a fact, sugar. Also there aren't "too many students at one school for the staff at Piggott to handle" like you say. PHS is one of the SMALLEST HIGH SCHOOLS IN THE STATE even counting 7 and 8 grade. And they have plenty of EXTRA staff and still do a sucky job. Smaller school in the state with plenty of EXTRA staff your tax dollars are paying for. Ask the board if you don't believe. How come elementary does a much better job? And they have about 150 MORE students at elementary school then they do at high school? Did you know that? Elementary proves it CAN BE DONE WELL.

Just pray that your kids never go to the HS councilors with a problem!!!!!!!

Really??? does it matter that the elementary school is doing just fine now???? Ya know what, the 6th graders that are in elementary school now are going into......thats right.....HIGH SCHOOL next year! So it will be affecting those children real soon. They may be one of the top in the state but once they go into 7th grade everything goes to shit...(unless they belong to right kind of family $$$$)!!!
As long as the "good ole boy" system is used in appointing positions this will continue.
Good Luck next years 7th graders. Hope you got money or you will be ABUSED at PHS! Either verbally or physically. Parents without money.....better start preparing those kids to have thick skin.

Now as far as the real reason that this thread was started.....I can only hope and pray that they get this situation under control so that IF there is a next time they do things the right way. Hopefully, this is a wake up call for them. I want my children safe and you should be able to feel that way while they are in school. hope it is resolved.

Just Saying... Dehart was basketball and Swann was baseball, so this still has absolutely nothing to do with Football. Sorry.

I have lived here my whole life and its always gonna be this way. I was in band and played football and baseball. Its not an athlete thing at all its a name thing. I have seen firsthand kids with talent that sit the bench most of there athletic career at PHS. Brock Swann was my coach and i actually ended up playin baseball that year in Campbell Missouri and retained a startin position and hit 9homeruns and a ten game stint. I feel i wouldnt have gotten that chance if i stayed and played for Piggott. The main reason is because i attended three PHS practices that year and hit and pitched the ball well in those practices. but never even got a second glance. He couldnt even remember my name and its not like there is a huge turnout for baseball.
