Dave Venable has signed up to run in the County Charter Council seat election for the Pevely, Festus, Crystal City area. He said if elected he would like to enact a smoking ban throughout the whole county. He was a council member of Arnold until he resigned his seat when he moved to Pevely. He is famous in Arnold for instituting the smoking ban. How does everybody feel about this and Dave, if you are on here, what else do you feel like you would like to do to help the citizens of Jefferson County to make it a better place to live.

Two Jefferson County Sheriff's cars and one Pevely Police department vehicle were broken into overnight Thursday into Friday morning.

Every year on the 4th Friday and Saturday of August, we have our annual Homecoming Festival. The festival is held in Park #1 on Main Street. Our activities begin at 6:00 pm. with a flag retirement presentation by Troop 429 Boy Scouts of America . Our Friday night activities are family based, with lots of fun activities in the carnival midway and lots of food available from the many vendors on site. We also have a "Baby Crawling Contest" and a "Pie Baking Contest". The music act for Friday night this year will be Alter Ego. Alter Ego will play from 7:00 - 10:00 p.m. when we end activities.

Then on Saturday things get fired up again at 11:00a.m. with lots of food vendors, carnival rides, carnival midway and local acts performing on the stage. This year the band Cruisin' will be playing around 6:00p.m. Till the festival ends at 10:00p.m. with a big fireworks display.

Saturday we also have lots of local and out of area crafters available with lots of cool crafts for sale. Also all day Friday and Saturday we have a 50/50 raffle available for sale at the City Booth. The drawing for the raffle winner is Saturday night at 9:30p.m. You need not be present to win. Again this year arm bands will be available for the carnival rides. There will be three arm bands available, 1 for Friday evening, and two for Saturday, 11:00a.m. - 4:00p.m. And 5:00p.m. Till closing at 10:00pm. At special package will be available that includes a three armbands at a discount. Please be aware, the carnival shuts down for I hour, between 4:00p.m. and 5:00p.m. for a break. Arm band prices and individual ride tickets will be available closer to the Homecoming Festival. All money raised by the festival is added to the Parks budget to support the four city parks.

Traffic backup at Pevely, Missouri may get bad for awhile before getting better.

A major traffic bottleneck along Interstate 55 in east-central Jefferson County should be greatly relieved under plans being unveiled at a public meeting today.

Nearly 25,000 vehicles breeze past the Highway Z interchange on Interstate 55 here each day, and local officials would like to turn much of that traffic into dollars and cents for city coffers.

A federal grand jury indicted two people from Pevely on methamphetamine charges, Acting US Attorney Michael W. Reap said Monday.

On June 2, 2009, the Jefferson County Journal reported that the City of Pevely had placed an issues on the August ballot that would partner the City of Pevely with the Teamsters Local 688 Health and Medical Camp, allowing citizens of Pevely access to the camp.

The camp is a 300 plus-acre-complex with a swimming pool, golf course, walking trails, and a lake. Tax payers in Pevely would pay a monthly fee on their utility bill, and then a usage fee if they utilized certain parts of the complex.

If the issue made it to the ballot in August, it would need to be approved by a majority vote of the Citizens of Pevely. Now, however, the August ballot seems to be off. According to Jefferson County Leader, their was an issue with the method used by the Pevely City Council in voting this issue on the ballot, and it has been removed.

The question now is, will this issue end up on a future ballot?
