All the years I have lived in Texas (33) I always looked forward to cantaloupes from Pecos. What a shame that a wonderful, Texan grown and produced product was just left to wither on the proverbial vine. I understand that it was costly to keep housing vacant 10 months out of the year but is there no one in Pecos smart enough to come up with an alternative solution???? Pitiful.

Considering there is a housing shortage, and railroad & oil workers fill up the hotels at 70 bucka a night.....

Nah, no one was smart enough to rent it out to them or the prison workers.

The cantaloupes were good, but not the best of the best.
