Why don't they wait to see if the guy deserves to be honored with a sculpture? All he's done so far is get elected.

I agree,,, Yes he is the first Black President, elected,,, but what has he done. Give the guy a chance to make some sort of history (other than just being black). He needs to build his own legacy, before we make him king.... oh some people have already done that. We still have 3 1/2 years,,, to go. Judge his presidency after he finishes it.

I'll correct you all: He's the first half-white, half-black, ALL Muslim president, who's own camp has shown proof that he was a citizen of Indonesia while attending grade school there, which instantly negates any chances for him to be president. He has done nothing but speak on television and throw parties and spend tax payers money since he got into office 5 MONTHS AGO.

You sir are the stupid one. You missed the entire point and also just proved Shock and Awe's point. There should not be any sculptures in his honor only because he's the first black president. We should honor him for what he's done when he's out of office, IF he deserves it. To honor him for what he is and not what he's done will entirely defeat the purpose of the past fifty years where we're supposed to judge people by the content of their character, their accomplishments and NOT by the color of their skin,(Even though we still haven't stuck to that one, just reversed the roles).

So yes, it matters what he has done so far, what he's doing and what he will do in the future because the people of the United States elected him to his current position. He is the president of the US and is held to very high standards. By calling other people racists because you believe the only reason they disagree with him is because of his skin color is just plain stupid and proves your ignorance. These people are exercising their rights as Americans to disagree with the government and their reasons are pretty legitimate from what I can see. So are you in support of that right being taken away from us as well?

I can at least speak for myself when I say I didn't even want McCain to win. I didn't particularly care for either candidate's policies and I still don't. In my opinion, we were pretty much stuck in the 2000 and 2004 elections again.

I just wonder who owns the land that the bust of Obama will apparently be placed on in the future? Do we have any vote on that one? I agree that until he has proven himself to be worthy of this, let's wait. Will there be other Presidents depicted in the same spot? I have a good choice - what about George Washington - the father of our Country or Abe Lincoln who stated "With malice towards none. With charity for all"?

By example, I just pointed out that accomplishments evidently aren't a qualifying factor. Obama has just as much right to be featured as any other president.
