Accident backs up traffic on Beeline Highway
A fatal accident is causing a major southbound back on the Beeline Highway, the main roadway between Payson and Phoenix.
The accident involves one vehicle. It happened at mile post 196.5 south of Saguaro Lake near Fort McDowell. The Department of Public Safety says the southbound lanes will be closed until 7 p.m. as the accident is cleared and investigated. Read more

Businesses suffer because of road closure
“Our business community is fed by the Valley”
These are hard times for businesses on the Mogollon Rim because of a nearly weeklong closure of the main roadway between Phoenix and Payson.
The week after Easter typically kicks off the beginning of the busy tourism season for Payson and other communities along Arizona 87.
But the closure of the state highway following a landslide Friday that buckled the road and forced the shutdown of a 35-mile stretch has virtually cut off Payson and other Rim communities along Arizona 87 from metro Phoenix drivers. Read more
