First Bite: Lombardi's on the Bay in Patchogue

Full story: Newsday.com

Finally, the cliche works: This isn't your Mamma's Lombardi's. Lombardi's on the Bay , which took over the waterside site of beheaded Louis XVI, joins Long Island restaurants as a big-time steak-and-seafood house, with an Italian accent.

Just got home from a Wednesday night $215 meal at Lombardi's on the Bay. My husband and I took his parents for their anniversary. A 15-20 minute wait turned into 1 hour and 10 minutes. Our super cramped table was splattered with oil from our appetizer by the food runner (thank God it missed us). Once the sun went down a silly votive was plopped down on the already VERY crowded table. The food was okay, nothing to write home about. We ordered the stuffed flounder, petit filet (was slightly overcooked) the stuffed shrimp and the lobster ravioli. We ordered a bottle of merlot - which was misspelled on the menu. The waiter brought a wine cooler to place the red wine in ... uh oh! So crowded, no mediocre, too expensive - they obviously haven't worked out the kinks.

4 people, apps, meals,and a bottle of wine...$215,Expensive?
I'm no snob, but I think that is a decent price for what you ordered.

Or are you just complaining to us because your husband stopped listening to you about it?

I was there on Saturday and had an excellent experience. There was a 2 hour wait but that is to be expected on a Saturday night at 7:00 PM without reservations. The mood at the bar made the time pass quickly and we actually sat in less than 2 hours. The food was excellent and I did not think it was too expensive (about $130 a couple). We did want to go to the outside bar but could not because of the rain. That of course is not the restaraunts fault. LOL

I went there for lunch a few weeks ago. I found it very nice, reasonable with excellent service! I never went there when it was Louis XVI because I thought it was too stuffy and overpriced. I will become a regular now that it has come down a notch. Has Gordon Ramsay been there for a visit?

Louis XVI was stuffy, but man was that an outstanding place. The food was incredible, every detail was taken care of and service was impeccable. It will be missed by many foodies and devoted fans of true French cuisine. Anyway, I havnt made it out to try this place yet but plan to.

Went to the newest Lombardi Restaurant, very un-happy, Hostess was a mess had no idea how to perform her job, You know this when the waiter was helping her as he ignored his tables. The wait for our are drinks to apps and meals was in the 45 min range per, But at Least we had some fun watching the manager goof off as her restaurant was collapsing. Never agian food was not very good and over cooked. Sorry seems harsh. Gordon Ramsey don"t bother coming" you would like it, your about as talanted as this staff.

We came to sampler dinner and check out restaurant tonight as we are suppposedly having our daughter's rehersal dinner there in the near future. The restaurant is beautiful. We did not mind waiting to be seated for dinner- the hostess was right on target with the hour and a half wait. We sat at the outdoors bar and had drinks and appetizers. the wait went by quickly. sat at the outdoor area for dinner- while the waiter was lovely and very attentive, we ended up leaving an hour and a half later without eating dinner. we had only ordered a main course, and it never arrived. all of the reassurance from the manager is not diminishing any of my doubts and concerns about having an affair there. I will definitely never go back there for dinner.

You are a snob and don't know what you are talking about, at that price you still expect good food and decent service. Stay in Lodi NJ

Louis the XIV was an excellent restaurant might have been expensive but the service and the food could not be beaten. Lombardi's, my friend just ate there and came home with food poisining. The service was horrendous and the bartender was rude and obnoxious. I think the Lombardi family are really pushing it. Stay with what you know good old fashion Italian cooking. Stop trying to put a tremendous amount of people in one room. All I have to say is Louis XIV please please come back.

The distinguished self proclaimed MR PATCHOGUE... you sound like MR.DOUCHÉ NOZZLE.
The person was not complaining about the food, They were complaining about the price. 4 meals, apps and a bottle of wine for 215 is good price.
Go to Arby's if it's too steep for you.

Also, go learn something about ISP locations, you dum-fuk.

Mr Patchogue, what an a§§hole.

I had a early evening meal on Monday July 20, 2009. the service by Carlo the waiter was fine , the food was good. But there was outside construction taking place through out our dinner. It was difficult to have a conversation due to the hammering, drilling, sawing and debris being thrown in front of us outside the window from a scaffolding.
The cost of the meal was $100.00+ and it was a terrible experience. For such a location and trying to enjoy a meal, it was a terrible experience

Went there on Aug 1st, the food was excellent! Our server was Carlo, the service was excellent! The only problem was waiting for a parking spot - there was a wedding and there is only one way in and one way out, we had to wait 1/2 hour to park. Great addition to the up and coming Patchogue8018

Then why comment on it. I'm tired of idiots that just want to read or hear themselves. The topic is Lombardi's on the Bay not what you thought of Louis the XVI. If you have nothing to say on the TOPIC then shut the f up.

Our party of 8 visited on Friday, August 14, with reservations. Our first time at Lombardi's:
-Decor- very nice;
-Seated- shortly after arrival- very good;
-Meal Prices- very reasonable;
-Quantity and Quality- very good;
-Service Provider-*poor!;
-Timimg-*poor
* Our waiter "Joe F" lacked in attentiveness, and attention to detail. After waiting 90 minutes for the main courses to arrive, and questioning our server how much longer, a response of "it's cooking" is unaccepatable. Nice friendly and hospitable service would have gone along way with the fine cuisine, AND his abrupt removal of the check off our table while we were still seated was just plain rude! Not coming back!
