Turnpike bridge project price tag goes up
The cost of a Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission project to replace two bridges in Carbon County has jumped from an initial $50 million estimate to about $70 million.
That amount is only for the bridges. The commission also plans a total reconstruction of more than a mile of turnpike in conjunction with the replacements, which is expected to cost at least another $55 million, bringing the total project cost to about $125 million.
But the commission won't know the exact price tag until the bids are in, said spokesman Carl DeFebo. Read more
