Cankerworm spraying expected in early April
Depending on weather conditions, aerial spraying to combat cankerworms is likely to take place April 7 to 11, Charlotte City Arborist Donald McSween said Tuesday
Firm dates will be announced as warmer weather stimulates mass hatching of the destructive, leaf-eating caterpillars. Only a few early signs of hatching are evident so far, he said.
The spraying of trees over approximately 40 percent of the city will be done by Al's Aerial Spraying of Ovid, Mich. The work will be done to combat a continuing problem of caterpillar damage in spring to Charlotte's tree canopy. Read more
