May 24: Flood watch remains in effect for Okanogan River
A flood watch is still in effect for the Okanogan River near Tonasket. As of Thursday afternoon, May 23, the river level was 14.27 feet, according to the National Weather Service, and the flood stage is 15 feet.

15th Ride to Rendezvous a hot and dusty success
A hotter, drier and dustier than normal Ride to Rendezvous journeyed through the Methow Valley backcountry last week, taking mounted travelers on an adventure starting in the hills above Malott on Monday evening to rolling through downtown Winthrop at noon on Friday.

Warm weather that is speeding up the annual mountain snow melt-off has brought about a flood watch for the Okanogan River, especially in the areas between Tonasket and Oroville.

The National Weather Service in Spokane says the Okanogan River is expected to crest Sunday about two feet over flood stage, which will flood some fields and pastures between Okanogan and Oroville.

Fire at Hometown Pizza caught on camera
A fire in the early morning hours last Sunday at Hometown Pizza and Pasta in Oroville was limited to mostly smoke damage because of the quick reporting by the owner of the recently opened Pastime Bar and Grill.
