Where have all the jobs gone?

Locally, the job debacle has reached new lows. Where is this economy headed?

Quite unexpectedly, most of us are seeing a steady closing of business doors and downsizing to rival the initial stages of the 'Great Depression'. Our leaders need to step in and stop this slide before this downward spiral becomes too steep to recover from. While we are at it, how are you preparing for the projections for this economic malaise to be a protracted event? If things get serious enough, people need to treat this much more seriously than their preparations for a hurricane. The reason, this event will last much longer than the minimum supplies recommended for a hurricane. An online site to help you prepare for the unthinkable because of the site's thoroughness in general preparation, which can be applied to becoming homeless, can be found at: http://stormynites.net/private/emergencysupplies.html Our hearts and prayers go out to those families who stand in need now and who may in the future. Prepare the best you can, so that you can weather the economic storm ahead.

Thank you for the heads up on a survival site that can be helpful to prepare for economic down turns. Actually some of the tips you posted are for things I hadn't even prepared for with hurricanes, it was areal eye opener. Some of the things the article failed to mention is the fact that we have so few shelters locally, that they regularly fill up to capacity on particularly on inclement nights. So what I am here to tell you, there are inadequate resources available to deal with the potential flood of needy people in the area. Without jobs most of us only are one paycheck away from being on the street, so for those who haven't considered setting up a survival pack, get with it and become prepared.

Where have all the jobs gone?

All the good jobs follow NAFTA to other countries where labor is cheap and they have nationalized health care. Corporations make more profits while their old employees now try to work two low paying jobs without benefits to support their families.

Now with the immigration malaise where employers NEVER get prosecuted for the profitable practice of hiring illegal aliens for less than the prevailing wage, American citizens are seeking a third minimum wage job to compensate for the rising cost of those wonderful lead based toys manufactured in China they can no longer afford for their children.
