How will Central Florida be affected by the 2008 Trucker Strike? Starts March 29th 2008 til ?

Every so often in the past, the CB's fire up with the ever growing discontent and plight of the American trucker. So it should come as no surprise that with the tremendous price hike in fuel and that includes diesel, a Strike IS ON. Just how will a national trucker strike or at least a slow down have upon Central Florida?

So besides the fact that quite literally almost every thing you purchase is delivered or carried by a truck at some time during it's trip from producer to your home. That gives even more credence to the expressions, "If you bought it, a truck brought it', or "America Stops Without Trucks".

Most of the conversations with truckers centered on the outrageous fuel prices, freight brokers ripping them off, the lack of convenient Central Florida truck stops and the downright abuse they have taken as a group in ever lowering wages. Many long time drivers can't even afford to work as independents, as the profit is so little.

ACCORDING TO THIS LATEST REPORT - THE NATIONAL STRIKE STARTS MARCH 31st!

TRUCKER STRIKE 2008
& DRIVINFORCE

Do You Want Lower Fuel Prices? Support the Strike. Park Your Vehicles at least for the weekend and stock up with the necessities like extra groceries. Maybe someone like you who cares whether America keeps moving, will make the difference to let the government know enough is enough, to make the changes necessary to help our nation survive. I for one, salute all you safe professional and 4 wheeler drivers who do so much, for so little. You truly are highway heroes in my book. Keep on trucking - TRUCKER STRIKE 2008, it's on. PARK'EM FOR NOW!!

From the many people I have talked to concerning a strike the comments ranged from those who didn't believe it would happen, "Truckers will never do it, because they can't agree on anything!", to those who believe it's the straw that is breaking their backs, "if you were up in Detroit in the late 70's it wasn't pretty". Although there are anticipated different levels of activity all across the nation, it is believed that the key cross roads will create enough of public exposure for the nation to pay attention and begin vocalizing exactly what those highway heros are actually doing. We encourage everyone to keep a level head, remain calm and by no means violence is the furthest intent of this peaceful demonstration. So it is also up to law enforcement to remain calm in the face of so many untried officers having no experience in public protest. You must remember that the street belongs to everyone and they will drive their vehicles as safel;y as conditions warrant.

In the late 80's border crossings were blocked between the U.S./Canada this blockade was starting to have an effect on both countries economies. Both governments realizied this an moved quickly to end it by force if nessesary. This blockade was acheived with only a small group of people!STRIKE 2008 IF DRIVERS&OW/OP,S IN ALL STATES AND PROVINCES SHUT DOWN FOR A FEW DAYS IT WOULD HAVE PROFOUND EFFECT ON BOTH COUNTRIES.IT IS TIME DRIVERS/OW/OP'S REALIZE WE ARE BIGGER PLAYERS IN THE ECONOMY OF BOTH COUNTRIES THAN THE GENERAL PUBLIC REALIZES!

If the trucking community dont come together. We will all pay in the future with higher fuel prices and more taxes. While all of us are still running for nothing. So think before you start that truck and decide to undercut the other truckers! We decide our fate are selves. Just a matter if we can see common ground. I see it, do you??

We NEED a truckers strike! and for way longer than a couple of days...about 3 or 4 weeks should do the trick. you're under appreciated, under paid, and the Desile prices are entierly to high...just remeber the Boston tea party...they fought back over a 2 percent tax raise....It's time we stand up for ourselves!

I am on the interstates every day all across this country. The costs of fuel has jumped out of control and it is going to take more than the trucking industry to put a stop to it. Y is it left up to us anyway? If the "average Joe" would join in this strike and park their cars for the weekend instead of driving all over then the people in charge would finally realize what they have done to the country as a whole and not just the trucking industry. The interstates are full of "four wheelers" going nowhere important in an awefully big hurry. It isn't just trucks and it is going to take more than just trucks to get it back under control!!

Don't leave all this on our shoulders!!

I agree. Let's show the "powers that be" that WE, THE PEOPLE, have the true POWER. I hope and pray we can all stick together; that's the only way a strike will achieve any lasting effect. DESPERATE TIMES CALL FOR DESPERATE MEASURES.
