Tanks removed from former Clark station in Swansea
Workers on Tuesday began tearing out underground gas storage tanks at an abandoned Clark gas station at 1341 N. Illinois St.
No small task, the removal is being done by Seneca, an Oreana-based company that builds gas stations and removes gas tanks.
After lifting a tank roughly the size of a school bus from the ground, Seneca workers clean them out and cut a hole in them so they can't be used again, said Kent Loepker, a spokesman for his father, Bernard Loepker, who owns the land and paid for the removal. Read more
