Washington's San Juan Islands may or may not use the phrase, but really they don't need to because the products speak for themselves. On a recent tour of the islands, I had time to visit one island business on the main three islands: San Juan, Orcas and Lopez.

San Juan Islands idyllic early autum destination with great weather, light crowds
Tales of long lines at the ferries and tight lodging in the towns, resorts and campgrounds fade away as autumn ushers in the idyllic season for visiting Washington's San Juan Islands. Blue skies, golden sunsets and uncrowded roads will soon be accented by the annual color change of the leaves in the archipelago of islands that dot the inland waters of the northwest corner of the state.

Panel to weigh in at Climate Action series finale
The final event of the summer-long speaker series, "Climate Action Imperative: Understanding Impacts & Making Choices," kicks off with a hosted reception at 5 p.m. followed by panel discussion, 7 p.m., today, at San Juan Community Theatre. The back-to-back events wrap up the series, which featured eight climate change experts-oceanographers to botanists, biologists to meteorologists.
