H.B. Charles' Jacksonville church to partner with Orange Park congregation

Shiloh Metropolitan Baptist Church, one of the largest African-American Baptist churches in Jacksonville, is in the process of partnering with the predominantly Anglo Ridgewood Baptist Church in Orange Park. Those interviewed for this story could not think of another time in Florida when an African-American congregation has been the lead partner in combining with an Anglo congregation.

A patient at Orange Park Medical Center, who was present when a vicious patient-on-patient attack occurred Thursday, told News4Jax on Friday about what she heard. After spending three days in the behavioral health wing of OPMC, the woman asked not to be identified, but she said she is shaken after what she heard early Thursday morning.

The fourth annual Amelia Island Blues Festival hits the sand 6-9 p.m. Friday and noon-9 p.m. Saturday at Main Beach Park, 99 N. I-95 accident leaves car on roof Thursday morning in Jacksonville

A 32-year-old Orange Park man was charged with driving with a suspended license on Thursday morning after a car hit a truck and flipped on Interstate 95 at Butler Boulevard, according to the Florida Highway Patrol. Rocky Lynn West was driving a Ford Fusion south in the inside lane on I-95 when he came up on a Freightliner truck in the center lane just before 6:40 a.m., coming, the Highway Patrol said.

A Clay County disabled veteran who has been living in deplorable conditions for 15 years is getting some much needed help from the community. Joe Gainers is a 68-year-old combat disabled Vietnam veteran who received three purple hearts during his three-year tour with the National Guard Airborne Unit.

5 teens still at large after escaping DCS detention center

The teens still at large are: De'Mario Fisher, 17; Jaron Carrethurs, 17; Kuyvonta Cain, 17; Omar Manzanarez, 17; and Tajhiee Cockerham, 17. One of the escapees, Andre Davis, 18, was arrested Friday morning after he was caught loitering in a breezeway at the Burning Tree Apartments in Hermitage. DCS released a list of convictions for each of the original eight students who weren't captured within a few hours of the escape.

City demands portion of Springfield motel be demolished

People living in a Robertson County motel have about three weeks to find somewhere else to stay because the city of Springfield condemned a portion of the Royal Inn. The city had an outside engineering firm inspect the building and it found more than a million dollars in repairs that would be needed to make it safe.
