How do you know the police car was speeding? Do you have a source to quote?
The speed limit on that stretch of RT.1 is 40mph, I checked it today. The Mazda turning still has forward momentum, if it were turning at 20mph, it can have maybe half of that energy still going forward. To oversimplify, if the Crown Vic is going 40, the Mazda's energy makes it a 50mph crash (40+10=50), and the subcompact car bears the brunt of the impact as it's smaller and slower.
if thats the case the accident would have been in the intersection and not been plowed off the road 200 feet going in the cops direction speed was the main factor in this accident also the accident happend in the cops right lane plenty of time to at least react witch he didnt because he was going to fast or his head was up his ass

The car didn't go 200 feet. Go check out the intersection and see for yourself where the curb is broken up.

Of course the cop was only returning from a riot, no reason to think he might be a little agitated or distracted. He's a cop, he's required to be perfect at all times, right?

why dont you look at some of the recent actions of connecticut police. The newhaven narc divison had to be taken over by the feds. New London had to fire 2 cops for behavior and conduct unbecoming of a police officer. The list goes on and on. If someone is handed a badge and a gun they ought to be held to a high standard. WHen you bring up the ct post and call it liberal and imply that liberals dont like cops shows how crazy of an old man you are. The real story here is the the conduct and behavior of police in Connecticut. The milford, police drive around acting as if they are patrolling the streets of a dangerous inner city. I am personally aware of several Milford police officers whose appearance doesnt match there conduct.

A police car without its sirens on is not an emergency vehicle. And I'm pretty sure they're supposed to stop at red lights, turn from the marked lane, and keep it under 100mph when out cruising around.
I don't think you are CLUELESS, NUTS, or SPAM. If memory serves, you are correct--a police officer is supposed to obey the traffic laws--he is exempt from them (although he still must be cautious) when he is on an emergency call (i.e., lights/sirens on).

not perfect but responsible what he did is beyond stupidity and irresponcibility your head is hardwood look at the pics from news coverage both cars were way past the broken up curb that cop blew that kids car away to were there was nothing left he is totaly at fault just for being so stupid and fooling around in a 5000 pound wepon he oviously could not handle this is how a cop with a gun acts not all i hope

I am wondering just why the investigation does not proceed a little faster. Is the officer involved back at work, or on paid leave? In general, it seems that police feel they need not observe the same laws they are paid to enforce, and that is not a healthy mentality for our police. Cameras are as likely to protect police against inaccurate accusations as the other way, presuming they are as likely to be truthful about what happens as anyone else. When dash cams were mentioned in early coverage, it was the first I had heard that they were even in use in our area. Cameras that cannot be turned off at will by the police seem like a reasonable way to encourage acceptable behavior. We have to rely on police to ethically enforce law since the law and common practice firmly forbids us to do it ourselves.
It does seem pretty plausible that the officers were hyped up and more likely to be speeding after helping the West Haven force put down a nightclub disturbance/riot (NAACP complained about excessive force/tasering). A cop culture where no cop need worry about getting a speeding ticket or worse, where this is ordinary and acceptable is part of the problem. THEY NEED TO BE AS OR MORE SUBJECT TO THE SAME LAWS THEY ARE PAID TO ENFORCE AS ANYONE ELSE, SAME FOR OTHERS IN GOVERNMENT.
