The upper-air pattern on May 16,1997 featured a deep, cold trough over the eastern U.S. and a northwest flow aloft over the U.P. There was yet another snow event over parts of Upper Michigan this past weekend.

The forecast for the evening of May 9, sees a trough over Hudson Bay extending southward into the Great Lakes and northeastern U.S. This is a cool pattern for us.

Family members rescue Ontonagon kayaker

What started out as a nice Sunday kayak ride for two Ontonagon men ended up a cold spill into icy waters and an even colder night in the woods for one of them.

Lost kayaker rescued by police

The Michigan State Police responded to a kayaker that had become lost during an outing on the Baltimore River, east of US-45 in Ontonagon County on Sunday night.
