Hundreds of old and worn flags will be burned today in Dallas at Flagpole Hill. Burning is one of the two proper ways to retire Old Glory, the other is burial.

The flag of the United States - a symbol of liberty and freedom; born of strife, when the forefathers of the United States faced and overcame seemingly insurmountable obstacles - flies today and even more noticeably on Wednesday at numerous area events in celebration of Veterans Day.

Old Glory soon will have a place of honor in Paris, Texas. In collaboration with NeTseO Council of Boy Scouts, Starrett Funeral Home plans a formal flag garden to be used as the repository of ashes of retired flags under the guidance of Boy Scout troops.
