The Salvation Army is gearing up to help the disadvantaged during the holidays -- and needs your help.
'We are already very excited about the upcoming holiday season and looking forward to helping as many people as possible,' said Capt. Kenneth Bagley, corps officer for The Salvation Army in Lake & Sumter Counties.
The Salvation Army has already taken 733 applications for Thanksgiving and Christmas assistance in Lake County and 134 applications in Sumter County.
Capt. Sandi Bagley, corps officer, said that The Salvation Army band and other musicians will play at this week's Leesburg Saturday Morning Market. The traditional red kettles and the bell ringers also will be on hand. Several members of the area motorcycle clubs will host kettles in the area. Read more
