This guy Sharinn was an idiot and basically got what he deserved for getting out of his vehicle and menacing this kid. I'm happy his genetic code will not be passed on.

The kid will get off and rightfully so!

No idea what that means.

I think this kid got scared and in a panic ran over the guy. Is it me or does $500K bail sound excessive?

a gentle young honest human being was killed...you don't know what happened. A beautiful life was taken...why are you people so quick to be so cold and horrible and ruthless towards another human being who was brutally taken from this world? The assumptions...you need to think that ian could be your brother, cousin, or son.

We should not have to look for a defense for acting like idiots on the road. He was on the phone with 911 at the time. It was not murder-that involves intent. They should have tried this kid with vehicular manslaughter. There is no excuse to indulge in stupid drivers, and if you use that defense, then you are not helping the issue. Road rage can happen to any of us, but the actions of these two men made this turn deadly.

The 34 year old had to be related to someone of power in Long Beach. Its all about who you know. Judge Smoklin is a jerk when he made the 500K bail decision and that was because they charged the kid with homicide instead of vehicular manslaughter. The worst is the judge didnt let the kids family in for the arrainment, but he allowed the media in.. Nassau county should really be all over that one. Very corrupt.

according to the witnesses that saw the whole thing and caught the kid and held him for the cops. This kid was being attacked and was trying to get away from that "gentle young honest human being"
That "gentle young honest human being"
blocked an intersection just so he could catch this kid and do harm to him.
The kid was trying to get away and he stood in front of his car, based on what the people who saw what happened as it was reported, this kid acted in self defense.
How many times have we heard about road rage turning into a shooting or a stabbing?
The police will have proof this kid was on the phone calling for help. and help never came.
Based on what the witnesses said and the cell phone, if i were on the jury, i would believe a self defense verdict would be a no brainer.

If it was an off duty officer that would have run him over, he'd be a free man right now.

While I didn't know the guy personally, I know his type. Typical self entitled south shore a-hole. C'mon canary yellow porsche. Probably the kid cut him off or something else stupid. He saw a young skinny slacker behind the wheel so his ego lead him to confront the kid and he got his plain and simple. This moron is no different then the mid-life Dr. Lawyer or CPA that dresses up in leather on the weekend and plays wild hogs, that give you hard looks like their real bikers, and threaten you with their lawyer when you confront them. If you can't walk the walk, Dont talk the talk otherwise you'll be lined in chalk!

What was SO important for this guy to chase down this kid, block his exit, and slam on the hood of his car? If he just went his way and let the kid go his own way he would be alive today.

AS I SEE IT ---- by Mike "Mainer Mike" Brown.

I'm sure Mr. Potts' lawyer will try to reduce his client's sentence by saying that his actions were not premeditated, if the strategy of making out that this incident was an accident doesn't work in court.

But I say, what difference does premeditation or nonpremeditation make? It doesn't make it any easier for the victim's family either way.

When someone kills somebody else, I don't care if it's premeditated or not. If you murder someone, you should be imprisoned for life without the possibility of parole.

Disagree? Try telling that to the victim's loved ones.

That's AS I SEE IT. I'm Mike "Mainer Mike" Brown.

One thing your missing... He turned to back up, then saw he could'nt , then proceeded foward... He may not have even seen what he did based on the split second decision to avoid danger... A reenactment will show all this, and the prosecuter already knows this .

I agree. If only that kid in the Nissan would have stopped, gotten out of his car and taken a viscious beating from that "gentle young honest human being" all of this could have been avoided.
